A community interest company which is committed to helping Tamworth people thrive is appealing for more volunteers as it prepares to expand its services.
An increase in demand for services on offer from Community Together CIC has created new opportunities to join the volunteer team.
The group provides a range of activities, sessions and support events across Glascote, Wilnecote, Amington, Belgrave, Stonydelph and in the town centre.
Now, kind-hearted Tammies are being asked to donate their time to help Community Together CIC provide its ‘cuppa and a chat’ befriending sessions and become IT support buddies, Community Café assistants and session leaders. New volunteers will also get the chance to complete a qualification to lead a seated exercise session or social walking group.
Project lead Lee Bates said: “Community Together CIC offers a range of volunteering opportunities to suit all ages, abilities and interests.
“Through volunteering people gain confidence, make a difference, meet new people and make new friends. So come and be part of your community, learn new skills, take on a challenge and, importantly, have fun.
“Nothing would be possible without volunteers and we can tailor opportunities to fit in with the time people have available.”
Community Together CIC volunteer Sharon Sairpour lends her time to the group as a ‘way of giving back to the community’.
She said: “I like to give something back to the community and volunteering has provided me that opportunity. I feel privileged knowing I am making a difference just by giving a little of my time to talk, listen and even just give a smile.
“I never imagined that when I walked into the main Hub in the town centre a year ago that I would meet such inspiring kind people.
“Now I look forward to Wednesdays and the befriending group as it’s like meeting up with good friends. I would definitely recommend volunteering with Community Together CIC.”
